Allegheny Cemetery

Allegheny Cemetery is in Lawrenceville, on the bluff above the Allegheny River. It opened in 1844 and is still an active cemetery. You can walk it on your own. Maps at the office include one for the Civil War burials, which are scattered through the sections rather than gathered in a single soldiers’ lot.

The grounds are open every day. The exact gate hours are posted at the entrance and get shorter after summer. There is no ticket. The stories attached to particular monuments are on the haunted-history page. This page is only the visit: the gates, the map, and the fact that you can go.
