Carrie Furnace

Carrie Furnace is the pair of blast furnaces in Rankin, on the Monongahela, kept by Rivers of Steel. The ordinary visit is the industrial tour: how the furnace made iron, who worked it, and what is still standing. Tickets are about $25. Closed-toe shoes are required. Nobody under 8 is admitted. Carrie: After Dark is their night tour, history plus the ghost stories people tell about the site. It ran in 2024. A 2026 date was not confirmed when this was written, so it is not on the calendar. The early-October event this year is a fire-and-metal festival on the same grounds. That date is on the Rivers of Steel calendar, and it was not a fixed day in the notes used here.
